Minister launches ‘Plant for Pakistan’ drive
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz planted a sapling at National Hockey Stadium in connection with ‘Plant for Pakistan’ drive on Thursday.
Talking on this occasion, the minister said that the tree plantation campaign has been started in all sports offices of the Punjab province. “Keeping the environment clean and tidy is a common responsibility of all citizens and it is the only way to combat the serious challenge of climatic change”.
He said that planting maximum number of trees is need of the hour when our country is facing serious climatic challenges. “Definitely, it is a noble cause and every member of society must take part in this campaign with full passion and devotion”.
Faisal Khokhar said that the ‘Plant for Pakistan’ campaign will play an important role in making our beloved country green and clean. “This campaign will also help a lot in the elimination of environmental pollution from our country,” he added.
DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal, Director Admin M Kaleem, Deputy Directors Zahoor Ahmed, Ataur Rehman and other officials were also present on this occasion. Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs also offered prayer for the development, progress and peace of the country on this occasion.
Earlier, Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial and DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal also planted saplings outside Punjab Stadium where Additional Secretary Sports Farhan Farooq, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza and other officials were present.
RUDA, UHS plant saplings to mark World Forest Day
Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) on Thursday launched a plantation drive at Rakh Jhokk forest on World Forests Day.
The event was attended by RUDA Director Project Planning and Control Nadeem Bukhari, Sheikhupura Divisional Forest Officer Iftikhar Janjua, along with students from various schools who planted trees.
In alignment with the directives of the CM to promote environmental sustainability, RUDA commemorated World Forest Day by reiterating its dedication to combating pollution. It is pertinent to mention that plantation drive took place on 80 acres featuring 36,000 new plants.
Additionally, six new tube-wells have been installed at the fresh site of Rakh Jhokk, which already covers an area exceeding 3,000 acres. RUDA oversees nine forests spanning 5,983 acres in total.
