Minister, British diplomat discuss promotion of education

LAHORE: Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat held a meeting with the Head of British High Commission Office in Lahore, Clara Strandhoj, here on Tuesday.

Rana Sikandar and Clara Strandhoj discussed joint initiatives for the educational development of Punjab, along with matters of mutual interest. The initiation of various educational projects in Punjab with the support of Great Britain was also on the agenda. The minister talked about the priorities and potential steps of the Punjab government regarding the educational challenges and problems faced by the province. He also highlighted possible measures, especially for the education of girls. Rana Sikandar also talked about the plan to introduce technical education, modern IT, and technology courses in schools. He said that the Punjab government was striving to implement short-term and long-term education reforms. He expressed his determination to implement reforms in Punjab by taking inspiration from the modern educational experiences of Britain.

He also discussed tackling teacher training for public school teachers, upgrading schools, and other educational challenges with the support of Great Britain. Clara Strandhoj assured her full support to bring an educational revolution in Punjab.
