Kiln workers get Khidmat cards

GUJRANWALA: Khidmat cards were distributed among brick kiln labourers at a function at the Commissioner’s Office on Sunday.
As many as 75 families of kiln workers were given Khidmat cards under which parents would get Rs 2,000 for admission of their child to schools. Every school-going child would get free textbooks and uniform. The parents would also be given Rs 1,000 on monthly basis under the scheme.
The speakers lauded the Punjab chief minister for launching the scheme and said it would help increase literacy rate in the province. DCO Muhammad Amir Jaan, MNAs Mian Tariq Mehmood and Rana Umer Nazir, MPAs Ch Muhammad Iqbal, Taufeeq Butt and Pir Ghulam Farid and officers of the district government attended the ceremony.
KILLED ON ROAD: A man was killed in an accident near Shera Kot on GT Road. Akram (60) of Wazirabad was crossing the road when a speeding motorcycle collided with him. As a result, he received serious injuries and rushed to the DHQ hospital where he breathed his last.
