The Sindh inspector general of police (IGP) on Friday issued directives to complete the installation of modern cameras on internal and external routes of the cities in the province by the end of this month.
Under the supervision of IGP Riffat Mukhtar Raja, a review meeting was held regarding the progress of the Sindh Smart Surveillance System S-4 Project. The police chief instructed that the installation of new cameras at internal and external locations of the cities should be completed by the end of March, and all possible cooperation and assistance should be ensured in this regard. He said that the installation of special cameras at internal and external locations of the province would strengthen police actions against crime and enable the identification of vehicles entering and leaving the cities.
During the briefing, the IT DIG explained the progress made in the S-4 project so far. The meeting was told that new cameras had been installed at 18 internal and external locations in Sindh. In addition to Karachi, camera facilities were operational at 16 locations, while new cameras would soon be installed at selected locations in other districts of Sindh. The Sindh police chief also visited the Command and Control Center of the S-4 project.
