Ghee prices cut by Rs15/kg

LAHORE: Under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, a meeting of the Ramazan Monitoring Ministerial Committee was held at the Civil Secretariat.

The delegation led by Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, Muneeb Mannu announced reducing Rs15 per kg in the prices of ghee across Punjab. This decision will be implemented from today (Friday).

The minister welcomed the decision of ghee manufacturers to reduce the prices of ghee in the holy month and said that on the instructions of the CM, every necessary step was being taken to provide relief to the people. The minister assured of solving the problems of ghee manufactures on priority basis and said that a meeting would be held after Ramazan to resolve the issues of ghee manufacturers.

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that a meeting would be arranged with the Provincial Transport Minister of Ghee Manufactures regarding axle load management. Tariqullah Sufi, Abid Malik, Muhammad Waheed Chaudhry and others were included in the delegation of Vanaspati Manufacturers Association.

Earlier, the minister chaired the meeting of the ministerial committee formed regarding the monitoring of Ramazan relief package, held at the Civil Secretariat. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Bilal Yasin, Azma Bukhari, Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and the secretaries concerned attended the meeting.

While the divisional commissioners participated in the meeting through a video link. In the meeting, implementation of Ramazan package, availability of essential items, prices and monitoring process were reviewed and the proposal for establishing trucking points for the sale of tomato, onion and potato was agreed. The pilot project of making trucking points will be started from Lahore. In the meeting, it was also decided to increase counters in Ramazan and model bazaars for the convenience of the people.

The minister while addressing the meeting said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, delivery of Ramazan package was going on at people's doorsteps, so far more than 2.2 million families have been delivered ration at their doorsteps.

The minister directed to increase the supply of potatoes, onions and tomatoes and said that the obstacles to transportation should be removed. Provincial Minister of Agriculture Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that there was a trend of reduction in prices of essential commodities due to government initiatives.
