PESHAWAR: In a strange move, the Accountant General KP has blamed his staff for creating obstacles in his pension case. Dr. Akbar Ali Khan, Accountant General, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has expressed serious concerns over the hurdles in finalizing his pension documents and constituted a committee to finalize them.
The AGKP has directed the officials to finalize the pension case by March 15, 2024, for submission to AGPR for which they shall make daily liaison with relevant offices. Akbar Ali Khan will retire on April,11, 2024.
A letter No APS AG/2023.24/14-18, issued on March 8, 2024, says it has been observed that various sections/staff are creating problems in the finalisation of his pension documents. The letter said the main reason for this was that the AG had made recoveries from officers occupying the AG’s flats under the rules. In retaliation, they are creating hurdles for the outgoing AG. Akbar Ali Khan said he was prepared for any recoveries lying outstanding against him.
However, to prevent any unwarranted circumstances, a four-member committee has been constituted to finalise the pension documents. Additional Accountant General will be the chairman, Fayyaz Ahmad DAG secretary, Shakeel Ahmad and Habibur Rehman are the other members of the committee.
According to sources, the AG KP has recovered as much as five percent outstanding amount from various officers living in government accommodation. However, the affected officers claim that the outgoing AG himself has not paid housing arrears to the Estate Office for over ten years due to which his pension cannot be released. He has to pay Rs one million in arrears against him, they added.
