­Ration packets delivered to over 1.2m households so far: minister

LALAMUSA: Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Chaudhry Shafay Hussain Tuesday said over 1.2 million households have received essential ration packets that were delivered right to their doorsteps so far.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said across 36 model bazaars and 15 Ramazan bazaars throughout the province, individuals can access high-quality products at exceptionally affordable prices. He said qithin these Model Bazaars and Ramazan Bazaars, 13 essential items will be offered at reduced rates of 25 percent at agricultural fair price shops. The Ramazan Bazaars, launched today on the 1st day of Ramazan, promises an array of cost-effective goods. The training of price control magistrates has been successfully concluded, ensuring effective enforcement. Collaborations with sugar mills and other associations are underway to explore avenues for providing relief to the populace during this sacred month.

He said the commitment remains unwavering in preventing artificial-inflation, prioritising the welfare of the people at all costs.DC visits fair price shops: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Safdar Hussain along with Price Control Committee chairman MPA Khalid Asghar Ghural visited fair price shop established in Model Bazaar and checked quality and quantity of commodities.

Talking to reporters during the visit to Agriculture Fair Price Shop in Model Bazaar, the DC said Agriculture Fair Price Shops and Convenience Bazaars have been established in the Ramazan Bazaars in district Gujrat on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He said delivery of ration to deserving people at their doorsteps was underway. The DC said Ramazan bazaars have been made functional in all three tehsils.He said a 25 percent discount is being given on 13 food items from the market at Agriculture Fair Price Shop in Ramazan markets.

He said potato, pumpkin, apple, guava, gram flour, tomato, garlic, banana, melon, onion, lemon, date and gram pulse will be provided to citizens at a 25 percent discount at Agriculture Fair Price Shop.

The DC said citizens will be provided with high quality fruits and vegetables at Agriculture Fair Price Shop. Similarly, ration is being provided door to door to the deserving people under the Ramazan care package.

He said dry ration includes 10 kg of flour, 2 kg of sugar, 2 kg of ghee, 10 kg of gram flour and 2 kg of rice.The DC said there will be no compromise on quality and quantity of the commodities. He said administrative officers are checking the quality of commodities.

Supply of commodities as per demand is being ensured at Agriculture Fair Price Shop. Separate counters have been set up for women, senior citizens and youth.He was told that medical camps have also been established for any emergency and goods were being provided to citizens with dignity and respect.

He was told that in Ramazan Bazaars, chicken, eggs and grocery items are being provided to citizens at a lower price than the market. The quality of the products is being continuously checked and the best products are being provided to the consumers as per the government guidelines.

The MPA said implementation of the prices fixed by the district administration will be ensured throughout the district. He said price control magistrates are active in the markets and strict action will be taken against shopkeepers for violation of regulations.
