LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to take approval for a short-term budget from the assembly.
The Geo News has reported quoting sources that a Punjab Assembly session is likely to be convened next week in which the budget expenditure for the next three months would be approved.
The Punjab government had approved the budget for one month till March 31 in the last assembly session. The Finance Department has started preparations for short-term budget expenditures and after completing budget preparations, a Punjab Assembly session will be called.
An attempt was made to get version from Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Information Minister Azma Bukhari, but none responded to phone calls and messages sent to them.
Meanwhile, Finance Department officials have said it was a routine practice to get approval for the remaining months of the fiscal year after a new government takes charge. Furthermore, nothing new development schemes will come for the next three months.
