Province status for Hazara division: Jirga of lawmakers likely next week

MANSEHRA: Tehreek-e-Inqilab Subah Hazara on Monday decided to hold a jirga of lawmakers from across the division to persuade them to table a resolution for the creation of a Hazara province in national and provincial assemblies.

“We are going to mobilise members of national and provincial assemblies from across the division to move the Hazara province resolution in national and provincial assemblies at the earliest,” Musaddiq Ali Shah, the chairman of the tehreek told reporters here.

A meeting earlier held with Musaddiq in the chair decided to jointly work with Tehreek-i-Subah Hazara founded by its late chairman Baba Haider Zaman to secure the status of a province for Hazara.

He said that all 18 members of the provincial and 8 national assembly members would be approached and persuaded to table the Hazara province resolution in their respective houses.Musaddiq said a delegation of Tehreek-e-Subah Hazara led by its district convener Mohammad Shahid held talks with them and evolved a joint strategy for the cause of Hazara province.

“We both tehreeks have a common objective of creation of a Hazara province and decided to form a joint committee to approach MPAs and MNAs and invite them to a jirga to be held next week,” he said.

The tehreek chairman said at the second leg of their efforts, a joint committee would meet like-minded political parties, MPAs and MNAs to get their support for the passage of Hazara province resolution in national and provincial assemblies.
