DCs asked to enforce official prices

LAHORE: Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa has instructed DCs of all districts including to visit general markets for price checking.

The commissioner said that all ADCRs, ADCGs and ACs should also make a surprise visit in their respective jurisdictions and should report about the presence of price magistrates in the markets.

He said that the price magistrates should respond immediately to the complaints and reports of the citizens on the price app. He said official rate lists should be displayed at every cart, shop and market and should be implemented. He directed that the Agriculture Market Committees should monitor the auction process in the markets. He said strict legal action should be taken against hoarding and profiteers. He said that the consumers and citizens should be provided with the goods according to the government rates even in the general markets. He directed the DCs to take legal action against the price magistrates for their non-performance. The commissioner said that cleanliness, complaint counters and discipline in model Ramazan bazaars were the responsibility of the concerned AC. He visited Wahdat Colony area and checked the Model Ramazan Bazaar regarding price checking. The commissioner checked the sale of vegetables and fruits as per official rate list. He said that on the instructions of the CM, a discount of Rs15 per kilogram was being given on chicken and meat in Ramazan model markets.

“Today the entire field formation is in the field for price checking and strict action is being taken against all kinds of illegal profiteering,” he added. The commissioner said that action has been taken against 34 profiteers so far and arrests have also been made. Commissioner expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the items at the Agriculture Fair Price in Model Bazaar. He said that the availability and quality of all items in Ramadan Model Bazaars has been ensured. Commissioner checked the quality, supply and price of apples, potatoes, onions, garlic and Basin at Agriculture Fair Price in Model Bazaar. He said that agriculture and livestock fair shops have been established in 10 model markets of Lahore according to government rates. Later, Commissioner visited to review the delivery of Ramazan package at the doorstep. Commissioner said that in Lahore Division, Ramazan care package was provided at the doorsteps of 1 lakh 98 thousand beneficiaries.

Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited Karimabad Wahdat Colony and handed over Ramazan packages to six beneficiaries. After complete verification, the Ramazan care package has been provided to the doorsteps of 99,000 beneficiaries in Lahore city.

Commissioner Lahore scanned the data, identity card and QR code of the beneficiaries and kept them at their doorsteps. Commissioner Lahore said that the Chief Minister of Punjab has arranged for the delivery of Ramazan packages at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries to protect their self-respect and delivery of Ramazan care package will be ensured as per the deadline in the entire division including Lahore city.

Later, a meeting was held regarding the Ramazan floodlight cricket festival and league matches under the chairmanship of Commissioner. Commissioner said that cricket teams of colleges of Lahore will participate in the festival under PCB domestic directorate.
