LAHORE: PTI leader Mehmoodur Rashid, who was arrested over May 9 incidents, has filed miscellaneous petition in the anti-terrorism court (ATC), requesting the court to summon the Punjab IG and six other officers.
The PTI leader has filed the petition in the ATC through Sikandar Zulqarnain advocate. The court, while initiating proceedings, has sought reply from prosecution. The petitioner had taken plea in the petition that police personnel ASI Hassam Afzal and head constable Muhammad Khalid recorded their statement in Shadman police station arson riots case. According to the statement, the police personnel were present in Zaman Park as PTI workers. As per the statement, it was decided in Zaman Park that the sensitive installations would be attacked in case the PTI founder was arrested. The policemen provided all information to their officers. The petition said that the Punjab IG and other officers were allegedly aware of this plan as despite having information, they did not take steps to avert the situation. He requested the court to summon these officers and punish them as per the law.
