Three names finalised for Larkana University VC’s post

KARACHIL The names of three candidates have been finalised for the appointment of vice chancellor to the University of Larkana.

The three candidates who have been finalised for the position are Dr Zahid Hussain Abro, pro-vice chancellor of the Quaid-e-Awam University, Dr Madad Ali Shah, pro-chancellor of the IBA Sukkur, and Dr Rafiq Chandio, chairman, Department of Economics, University of Sindh.

A bureaucrat member of the search committee told The News on Tuesday that after completing the interviews of the candidates, three names had been sent to intelligence agencies for clearance, and after clearance of the names, the chief minister would interview the candidates and decide the final candidate.

Thirteen candidates were interviewed on the first day, while 16 candidates were interviewed on the second day. Among the 29 shortlisted candidates were Manzoor Ali Abro, Dr Jan Muhammad Marri, Dr Ejaz Soomro, Dr Faiz Muhammad Shaikh, Dr Abdul Fateh Chandio, Dr Azhar Ali Shah, Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Dr Imamuddin Khoso, Dr Ameer Hussain Shar, Dr Munir Hussain Shah, Dr Riaz Shaikh, Dr Nabi Bakhsh Narejo, Dr Mushtaq Jaricho, Dr Zahid Chanar, Dr Arshad Saleem, Dr Dar Mohammad Pathan, Dr Madad Ali Shah, Dr Menhun Khan Laghari, Dr Nabi Bakhsh Jamani, Dr Qamar Deen Mehr, Dr Rafiq Chandio, Dr Riaz Hussain Soomro, Dr Abdul Sattar Jamali, Dr Sirajul Haque, Dr Usman Kerio, Dr Waqar Adil, Dr Wazir Baloch, Dr Zahid Chanar and Dr Zahid Abro were included.

The search committee meeting was chaired by Chairman Sindh Higher Education Commission Dr Tariq Rafi while Secretary Boards and Universities Noor Ahmed Samon, Secretary HEC Moin Siddiqui, Secretary Colleges Education Sadaf Anis and retired bureau secretary Sohail Akbar Shah and former University of Karachi VC Dr Pirzada Qasim participated.
