KARACHI: Indus Motor Company (IMC), the maker of Toyota cars in Pakistan, won two awards for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts at a ceremony hosted by The Professionals Network (TPN), a statement said on Thursday.
IMC was recognised for its contribution to the United Nations' Global Goals. The company received the awards for "Clean Energy Transition" and "Community Impact" from the Consul General of Indonesia, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, at the 13th Annual CSR Awards, where 107 companies competed in 35 categories.
"It's always a feel-good moment for us to be recognised for our efforts and this laurel from The Professionals Network is no exception," IMC's Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali said in a statement.
He said the company was committed to reducing its carbon footprint and supporting social causes, especially education for the underprivileged. "Producing happiness for all is what Toyota's CSR philosophy aims at and building a society that leaves no one behind is what our CSR initiatives are geared towards," he Jamali.
Among IMC's flagship CSR projects is the Toyota Goth Education Program, which provides quality education to children from low-income communities in partnership with The Citizens Foundation, a non-profit organisation. The company also collaborates with various NGOs to support the deaf, the disabled, the mentally ill, the homeless and the needy.
