Academia-industry linkages stressed to boost economy

HARIPUR: The Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) organised a daylong expo here on Thursday.Titled Mega Expo 2024, the event was meant to foster strong connections between academia and industry with a focus on applied sciences and technology.

The event was also aimed at showcasing cutting-edge advancements and forging valuable partnerships brought together the leading industrialists, software companies and those of entrepreneurs dealing in the fields of science and technology, PTCL, representatives from different Chambers of Commerce and Industries and Hattar industrialists.

Speaking on the occasion, Rector Dr Muhammad Mujahid said that the Mega Expo 2024, of PAF-IAST, which was committed to skill the Pakistan, was in fact a platform for the students to demonstrate capabilities and connect with potential collaborators within the industry. “This synergy fosters a fertile environment for future innovation and ensures academic programs remain aligned with industry needs, equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the ever-evolving world of technology,” he said.

Dr Arshad Hussain, Dr Sharifullah, Malik Ashiq Awan, president Hattar Industrialists Association, Safdar Zaman Shah, member executive body SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry were prominent among those who spoke to the participants on this occasion.

On this occasion the students displayed 66 innovative project designs based on the problems of the industrialists where they got engaged during their internship. The project designs were related to energy, water and other science and technology related difficulties the industrialists usually face.
