MINGORA: The activists and workers of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) on Tuesday staged a protest rally against the police raid on the residence of party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Quetta.

The PkMAP workers and activists first gathered outside the press club and chanted slogans against the officials of the local administration for the raid on party president Mahmood Khan Achakzai and manhandling his private security guards.

They later also took out a rally up to Nishat Chowk and demanded a judicial probe into the matter and exemplary punishment for the officials of the raiding party.

Addressing the protesters, the Swat chapter president of PkMAP, Hameed Khan, general secretary Salim Khan, Akbar Shah advocate and others condemned the raid on presidential candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s residence.

They said that act was a political victimization as the PkMAP chief had raised his voice against the involvement of the establishment and other institutions in alleged rigging in the recent general elections. They said that the police arrested the security guards along with licensed weapons which they termed illegal.

“We will continue our struggle for the rule of law and constitution, justice and restoration of true democracy despite all odds and such revengeful acts cannot intimidate us,” a speaker vowed, adding that voice for the rights of Pakhtuns would be raised at all forums.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammad Ali, the provincial president of PkMAP KP, has condemned the police raid on the home of PkMAP’s chairman. In a statement, Dr. Ali termed the move deeply troubling and stated that such underhanded state tactics cannot deter Achakzai’s commitment to the democratic struggle. He emphasized the need for all democratic forces to unite and struggle for civilian supremacy.

Humayun Khan, the provincial Information secretary of PkMAP, expressed concern over the recent police intrusion into Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s home, labeling it as a concerning escalation of authoritarian tactics.
