Man gets death for ‘honour’ killing

KASUR: An additional district and sessions judge awarded death sentence to a murder accused with Rs 100,000 fine. The court awarded five years jail and Rs 25,000 fine to his accomplice Muhammad Javed.

According to the prosecution, convict Amer and his brother Javed of Mir Muhammad village had killed Muhammad Yahya and injured his brother Muhammad Asif critically for honour in the limits of police station Raja Jang in 2011. The court acquitted two co-accused Ghulam Muhammad and Sabir giving them the benefit of the doubt.

THREE ROBBERS HELD: Police Friday arrested three robbers, including a woman.

Reportedly, three robbers, including a woman, entered the iron store of Mumtaz Ali in Ghalan Hattar, Allahabad, as customers and took hostage the owner and snatched Rs 234,000 from him. The locals gathered and overpowered the robbers when they were fleeing.

The locals handed over the dacoits to the Allahabad police. The robbers are identified as Nazia Parveen, Naeem Babar and Muhammad Asghar. Police have registered a case.
