ISLAMABAD: Asad Rehman Gilani, a BPS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) has been appointed as Secretary to the prime minister with immediate effect.
Asad Gilani, who was serving as Secretary (In-charge) at Power Division, has assumed his new responsibilities at the Prime Minister Office. The Establishment Division, with approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has also notified the new posting.
Captain (R) Khurram Agha, a BPS-22 officer of PAS, who served as Secretary to caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar, has now been posted as Federal Secretary Commerce Division. Muhammad Sualeh Faruqi also a BPS-22 officer of PAS, who was Secretary Commerce, has been directed to report to Establishment Division.
Previously, Asad Rehman Gilani had also served as Chairman of BoI along with additional charge of Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and Secretary (In-charge) Ministry of Industries and Production.
The official sources said that as the newly elected prime minister has taken over, a major reshuffle in bureaucracy is expected to start with key posts in Islamabad.
Khair Muhammad Kalwar, a BS-20 officer of Secretariat Group, presently posted as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Division, is transferred and his services are placed at the disposal of government of Sindh, on deputation basis on standard terms and conditions for a period of two years, with immediate effect.
Final report with recommendations will be sent to Governing Council for decision, which will be held in Mexico
