PESHAWAR: Lauding the role of the lawyers, former caretaker Chief Minister Arshad Hussain Shah on Saturday said the members of the legal fraternity had always rendered matchless sacrifices for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution.

He expressed these views while addressing the general body meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council.

KP Bar Council Vice-Chairman Sadiq Ali Mohmand, Chairman Executive Syed Taimur Ali Shah, former chairman Executive Committee Syed Mubasher Shah Advocate and others were present. Addressing the meeting, the former caretaker chief minister said the caretaker cabinet had announced a grant of Rs50 million for the bar council.

Arshad Hussain said he spared no effort to carry out his responsibilities as the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “We made sincere efforts to fulfill our duties in order to serve this province,” he said. He said that his government tried to serve the people.

The other participants in the meeting said that an academy would be built for the training of lawyers with the help of the grant. They said the money would also be used for the welfare of lawyers.

In the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and the Azad Kashmir Bar Council. The representatives of the two bar councils signed the MoU.
