ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday expressed grave concern over what it claimed serious threats to the life and health of Bushra Bibi, the spouse of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan, who has been put under house arrest at Bani Gala.
Speaking to reporters here along with the PTI Women Wing President Kanwal Shauzab, senior party member Naeem Haider Panjotha said they were not being allowed to meet her because they had told the media about her health and food during the last meeting.
He said Bushra Bibi wanted to be transferred to the Adiala Jail but the authorities concerned were bent on keeping her at the Bani Gala sub-jail under the ‘lame excuse’ of security and scarcity of capacity in the jail.
He pointed out that Bushra had serious health issues due to the harmful and substandard food being provided to her, hence her family physician should be allowed for medical checkup.
Panjotha said Imran, his family and all the leaders and should be released immediately’. Kanwal Shauzab said they expected that the February 8 elections would put an end to the reign of terror but ‘Sultanate Sharifia and Zardaria’ were brought forward through a daylight polls fraud. She said it could not be called democracy as they were imposed on the nation once again through an electoral robbery. She said the way women were harassed and dragged in Pakistan never happened in any Islamic state.
“Keeping in view the serious threats to Bushra’s health and life, a request was filed for her transfer her to the Adiala Jail but it was rejected,” she added.
