KWSC deploys 53 suction machines along highways in city

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) held a meeting on Thursday regarding expected rainfall in the city.

KWSC Chief Operating Officer (COO) Engineer Asadullah Khan said in a message that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has imposed a rain emergency given the forecast of rain by the Meteorological Department.

He said that an important meeting was held on rains in Karachi under the chairmanship of the chief minister, and on the special instructions of the CM, the KWSC had completed all arrangements to deal with the likely rains.

At the same time, a strategy has also been prepared on the instructions of the CM and the Karachi mayor. Khan said the KWSC has a total of 53 suction machines, and before the possible rains, 53 suction machines would be delivered to all the important highways of the city and thirty places in the deep area.

He said all sewerage pumping stations would be kept running with the help of generators in case of non-supply of electricity, and in this regard, a large amount of diesel had also been delivered to the sewage pumping station.

He said that given the expected rains, all the staff of the KWSC, especially the sewerage staff, are on high alert, and in this context, the leave of the engineering wing staff been canceled. The chief operating officer said that the management of the KWSC is always ready with full manpower to deal with rain and every possible situation, and in this regard, they are in full communication with all other local bodies, including the KMC.

He said that during the last month’s rains, the KWSC and the KMC solved the drainage problems immediately. He further said that the staff of the KWSC perform their duties round the clock to serve the public. The COO requested citizens to avoid unnecessary movement on Friday (today) and not to leave the house unnecessarily.
