LAHORE: An attempt to steal a huge consignment of medicines worth millions from Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, has been foiled.
The hospital officials informed that an attempt was made to transport government medicines by a rickshaw to an undisclosed location. However, it was intercepted at the police checkpoint of the hospital, which prevented the theft and immediately brought into the knowledge of the hospital administration. However, the rickshaw driver fled the scene.
The PIC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Prof Dr Anjum Jalal confirmed that an attempt to steal government medicines from the hospital has been foiled. The alleged thief has been identified and an FIR is being registered against the accused. “This seems to an organised attempt of stealing the medicines, therefore further investigation will reveal the involvement of those involved in the crime,” he added.
