Minor girl dies after being hit by swing in park
LAHORE: A one-year-old minor girl died after being hit by a swing in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park. Meerab Zafar was playing in the park with her mother. Suddenly, she was hit by a swing. She received injuries and died. Police have registered a case against contractor Jamshed and project director Imran. Further investigation is under way.
Robbers kill man on resistance
Two robbers killed a man on resistance in Sattokatla. Asif Rasheed was on a tour to Murree with his family. As he entered home after returning, two unidentified suspected robbers barged into the house. They made the victim hostage at gunpoint. When the victim offered resistance, they shot at him. He received bullet injuries and died. The suspects took away with two vehicles from the house.
PHP team saves woman’s life
A team of Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has saved life of a woman who had jumped to commit suicide in Khanpur canal after a dispute with her husband. The victim identified as Mehwish Habib had a dispute with her husband. On the day of the incident, she was so frustrated that she jumped into Khanpur Canal on Sheikhpura Road. When it came into the notice of Sub Inspector Dildar Ali, he along with team members reached the spot. They jumped into the canal and recovered the victim safely. Mehwish’s mother Azra Bibi and her brother Azeem expressed gratitude to PHP officials.
Body found
Body of a youth was found in a canal in Chung. A passerby spotted the body fin the canal near Muhafiz Town and alerted police. A Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and fished out the body. The victim had marks of torture on his body. Circumstantial evidence suggested that he had been subjected to torture before being murdered and dumped his body into the canal.
Four robbers arrested
Iqbal Town Organised Crime Unit (OCU) has arrested four members of a robbers’ gang on Wednesday. The arrested suspects were identified as M Shahbaz alias Arbash, Ali Ahmad, M Yaseen and Sheroon Sohail. Police also recovered cash, mobile phones and illegal weapons from their custody. The suspects reportedly were history sheeters. They have confessed of committing many robbery and dacoity bids.
