81 lawyers booked for manhandling Lesco SDO

OKARA: A-Division police booked 81 lawyers on the charges of manhandling the Lesco Model sub-division SDO on Wednesday night.

According to FIR 401/16, complainant SDO Umar Mumtaz along with his colleague SDO Habib Iqbal was present in the office when Chaudhry Ahsan and other lawyers came and asked the SDO why he had dismantled an electricity meter of his house at Faisal Colony No-2. The SDO responded that his meter was found tampered with, which proved that electricity was being stolen. To it, the lawyers allegedly ransacked the office and manhandled the SDO.

On Thursday, activists of the Pakistan Hydro Workers Labour Union took out a rally against the incident from the Wapda Complex up to the press club. The rally was led by union chairman Rana Shahid Hafeez and Superintending Engineer Nazir Ahmad Khan Lodhi.

POOR CLEANLINESS: District Coordination Officer Sucrat Aman Rana expressed his displeasure over poor cleanliness in the DHQ Hospital.

During his visit to the hospital, he found deficiency of sitting arrangements for patients and their attendants in the emergency and main entrance hall of the hospital. He also expressed concern over delay in completion of construction work in and around the hospital for which he had provided the funds.

Hospital MS Dr Saeed Ahmad Sial, Health EDO Dr Javed Ahmad Goraya and others were also present.
