Orders issued to arrest six Irrigation officers

GUJRANWALA: Anti-Corruption Establishment Regional Director Rana Abdul Shakoor has issued orders to arrest a retired chief engineer and five officers of the Irrigation Department for embezzling millions of rupees.
In an application, Kashif Zafar advocate alleged that former irrigation chief engineer Mohabat Khan, and Narowal XENs Riaz and Tariq, SDOs Arshadul Haq and Pervez Ahmad and Overseer Liaqat had drawn Rs 44.83 million in the name of strengthening canals embankment after the 2015 flood but work was not carried out properly. To it, ACE Deputy Director Technical Muhammad Rashid conducted an inquiry against the accused officers in which the allegation proved.
TWO CONVICTED: Anti-Terrorism Court No-2 Judge Bushra Zaman on Thursday awarded life term on two counts and Rs 50,000 fine each to Majeed Ali and Mureed Hussain in attempt to murder case registered with Sialkot Cantonment police. The prosecution said that the convicts had shot at and injured Haji Asghar in a mosque.

On the day of the incident, the FIA team raided Kotli Pir Ahmad Shah and arrested the accused. Meanwhile, the FIA team raided Jhelum and arrested human trafficker Najaf Shahzad.
