ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has appointed Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman to the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Zahid Akhtar Zaman, a BPS-21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), has been chosen for the position. Following cabinet approval, the PCB, previously under the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, has been placed under the cabinet division.
Amendments to the PCB Constitution approved by the federal cabinet now allow the prime minister to appoint three members instead of two to the PCB Board of Governors. In a letter addressed to the PCB management, the cabinet division has directed that cases for the appointment of officers of BPS-17 and above on deputation to the board should be processed through it instead of being sent directly to the establishment division. Furthermore, it has been mandated that the PCB conduct all correspondence with other ministers and divisions through the cabinet division.
