Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Khajawa Izharul Hassan has said that there shouldn’t be any question raised to change the incumbent Sindh governor, Kamran Khan Tessori, when Tessori has proven to be an effective governor and delivered without any powers.
Appearing on a private TV news channel show on Thursday, Hassan said that Tessori had been Sindh governor as a nominee of the MQM- Pakistan.
He said his party would propose some names if and when it deemed appropriate that the incumbent governor had to be replaced. He said that the appointment of the incumbent governor was fully in accordance with the prevailing social contract in the province.
Hassan said that according to the social contract, the governor should be the representative of urban Sindh if the elected chief minister repeatedly belonged to the rural areas of the province.
He said that predecessors to Tessori had been appointed as Sindh governor according to the same social contract. He said that given this social contract, the incumbent governor shouldn’t be changed at all.
He said the demand presented by the Pakistan Peoples Party to secure the post of the governor after the general elections had no validity because of the social contract.
