The Sindh High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf backed candidate against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s order with regard to a recount of votes cast at 10 polling stations of provincial assembly constituency PS-115 Keamari during the February 8 general elections.

PTI-backed candidate Shah Nawaz Jadoon had submitted that the ECP on February 13 directed the returning officer to recount the votes of 10 polling stations of the constituency. He submitted that he had obtained the highest number of 20,820 votes in the constituency against the rival PPPP candidate, who had begged 19,151 votes.

He said the ECP order was unlawful as it could not be passed after the consolidation of the results and issuance of the notification. A high court division bench headed by Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, after hearing the arguments of the counsel, for reasons to be recorded later on, dismissed the petition.
