LANDIKOTAL: Speakers at a ceremony here on Sunday paid glowing tributes to renowned Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari on his 30th death anniversary.
The event was held at the Jirga Hall in Landikotal where poets and literary figures paid homage to Hamza Baba.A number of poets from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan, civil society members, Pashto literature students, professors and intellectuals attended the event.
Young poet from Landikotal, who did PhD on Hamza Baba’s poetry Prof Dr Tawab Shah Masroor was the key speaker and host of the event. He shed light on the life and poetry of Hamza Baba.
Welcoming the guests at the event, Tawab Shah Masroor said that Hamza Baba was the legendary poet who also wrote poetry in Urdu and Persian.Other poets also paid a warm tribute to the literary and poetic abilities of Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari through their speeches and said that Amir Hamza Baba was a famous poet of the Pashto language.
They said that Hamza Baba’s poetry and prose were a torch for the Pashtun nation, which we should learn from it.Poets and intellectuals paid tribute to the life and literary achievements of Hamza Baba. The anniversary was organized by Pashto Adabi Jirga.
The speakers remembered and highlighted the great services of Hamza Baba rendered for the uplift of the Pashto language and Ghazal writing and paid rich tribute to Hamza Baba through their prose and poetry.
Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari lovingly called Hamza Baba was a renowned poet, playwright, and author in both Pashto and Urdu languages. His literary contributions are analyzed at the Master’s level in the curriculum of the University of Peshawar.He is considered a bridge between the classic and modern Pashto literature.
