Strict security, traffic measures in place for PSL

LAHORE : Punjab Police, under the supervision of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, ensured strict security and traffic arrangements for Pakistan Super League (PSL-9) that started at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Full security was provided to local and foreign players, officials, and cricket fans. IG Punjab said that the police is in contact with all institutions including the Pakistan Cricket Board, district administration, security agencies. Punjab Police will ensure that all matches are held in a peaceful and safe environment, he added. He said that more than 20,000 officers and officials will perform security duties on matches in Punjab, excellent & traffic foolproof measures will be ensured during the matches. IG Punjab said that search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations are going on around the player's residence, routes and stadium. With the help of cameras of Safe Cities Authority, monitoring of stadiums, hotels and the route of teams is being ensured.

Dr Usman Anwar said that lady police officers have been deployed for security and checking of women cricket fans. Implementation of traffic plan is being ensured to ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic, adequate parking. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Elite Force teams are ensuring effective patrolling during the matches.

IG Punjab directed that the staff posted at the entrances and exits of the stadiums should treat the citizens with good manners, Traffic advisory has been issued in the respective districts before the matches for the awareness of the citizens, to maintain the traffic flow.

Fans should follow the instructions of Punjab Police to enjoy cricket matches in a safe environment.

Special Initiative Police Stations a valuable asset: IG

IG Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has released an important video message regarding the maintenance of Special Initiative Police Stations.

IG Punjab said that funds will be given every month for the maintenance of Special Initiative Police Stations from the revenue of the district police. Funds for plants, machinery, stationery, furniture, AC etc are being given to Special Initiative Police Stations before the annual budget. Dr Usman Anwar said that the 15 percent share given by the Punjab government from driving licensing will be spent on the improvement of facilities in public facility centers. He said that written instructions have been issued to all districts for the maintenance of Special Initiative Police Stations and first financial grant of Rs24 crore has been released to the police stations for the maintenance of these police stations.

IG Punjab said that these police stations were converted into the most beautiful offices in the world at a cost equivalent to only one kilometer of ring road.

IG Punjab said that our police stations are the most beautiful service centres in the world, their beautiful environment will be maintained under the new financial support system.

IG Punjab said that in these police stations, citizens conducted wedding photo shoots, celebrated birthdays, families from USA, Canada appreciate all these facilities. He stressed that modern resources are provided to provide policing services to the citizens of this country.

IG Punjab said that the front ends of the police stations were upgraded to the Special Initiative Police Stations protocol for the public, Our DSPs, SHOs and ASIs along with their families designed Special Initiative Police Stations. Alhamdulillah, these special initiative police stations will also be maintained and beautified.

CCPO reviews security measures

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana Saturday chaired a meeting at his office to review security arrangements for peaceful conduct of matches of Pakistan Super League-9 (PSL-9).

It was informed in the meeting that nine matches under the PSL-9 would be played in the provincial capital. More than 7,000 policemen have been deputed for security of the matches.

The CCPO said Lahore police would ensure comprehensive security for the matches. Lahore police are providing foolproof security to national and international players as well as enthusiasts, he added. The CCPO ordered continuous coordination with the line departments and implementation of the security plans for cricket stadiums, accommodation of players, and routes, ensuring thorough checking of every individual entering the stadium and women spectators to be checked by lady police.

He ordered for effective measures to maintain traffic flow during the PSL matches and ordered prompt action against fake certificates, electricity theft, and pending investigations, as well as a crackdown on proclaimed offenders (POs) and other culprits.
