Pakistan is facing enormous macroeconomic challenges. The 2024 elections failed to produce a clear winner and whoever forms the next government will have a very weak mandate. We are likely to once again see a very unstable and fickle coalition in the centre, which does not bode well for the economy.
The significance of uncertainty in economic policies is higher than ever before. Any incoming government will have to reckon with enduring economic problems and commit to relevant reforms. Thus, no economic recovery is possible without a credible and decisive government.
