ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan has resorted to Islamabad High Court (IHC) against his conviction in cipher case and Toshakhana reference.
The appeals have been filed through Sardar Latif Khosa advocate in IHC.
NAB, FIA and subordinate court have been made respondents in the appeal pleas.
The petitioner has taken the plea that the norms of justice have not been met in the cases. Transparent trial which is guaranteed by the law and constitution has been violated. In haste it was not allowed even to cross examine the witnesses. “Even we were not heard. State counsel was appointed and arguments of their own will were obtained from him. We were not allowed to present our lawyers. Therefore, these sentences be nullified and PTI founder and Bushra Bibi be released,” the petition stated. Latif Khosa told the media men on the occasion that miscellaneous petitions have been filed for suspension of the sentences and early hearing of the pleas. “We have appealed to chief justice to fix these petitions for early hearing. Appeal in Iddat case has been filed in sessions court,” he said..
It is pertinent to mention here that Official Secret Act Court awarded punishment to PTI founder on January 30 in cipher case. Accountability Court (AC) had awarded punishment to PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case on January 31.
The AC awarded 14-year punishment each to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana reference besides disqualifying Imran Khan for 10 years.
The court constituted under secret act had awarded 10-year punishment each to Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in cipher missing case.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi has challenged cipher case decision in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
He has requested the court to nullify the decision of special court set up under official secret act.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi has filed the petition through Suleman Safdar and Ali Bokhari in IHC.
It is pertinent to mention here that sentence was awarded to PTI founder and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in cipher case.
