One of the victims, identified as Mahesh, 27 years old and the son of Arjun, suffered severe burns during the incident on February 11. Mahesh, employed as a sanitary worker at the hospital, sustained burns covering 62 per cent of his body. Also, Abdul Haseeb, 38 years old and the son of Abdul Ghaffar, endured 89 per cent burns during the same incident and succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Asif Irfan, a 42-year-old technician at the ICU and a father of two, had also passed away on Thursday. Sindh Health Minister Dr Saad Khalid Niaz expressed condolences to the bereaved families, noting that seven individuals were injured in the explosion. One injured person had been discharged, while three others were receiving treatment at a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Among the three, Abdul Haseeb’s condition remains critical.

The incident occurred when a fire erupted in the emergency centre of the Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad in Karachi due to a cylinder explosion. All injured persons were hospital staff and transferred to another medical facility. The spread of smoke to other parts of the hospital caused inconvenience to patients and their attendants.
