The Pakistan government has announced the Sitara-e-Shujaat award for the KPO attack martyrs and a deputy inspector of police.
The spokesman for the Karachi Police Office said on Friday that on February 17, 2023, terrorists attacked the KPO, in which five sons of the nation laid down their lives, while 18 Rangers and police personnel and an Edhi volunteer were injured.
As a result of the joint operation after the terrorist attack, the building of the police office was cleared in a phased manner and three terrorists were sent to hell. DIGs Muqadas Haider, Tariq Razzaq Dharejo and Nasir Aftab, a Rangers wing commander and other police officers and jawans bravely fought the terrorists.
Senior police officers fought on the frontline during which five people embraced martyrdom. They were Rangers Inspector Taimur, Police Head Constable Ghulam Abbas, Head Constable Abdul Latif, Constable Saeed, and sanitary worker Ajmal Masih.
The spokesman said 18 soldiers, including 10 Rangers officers and jawans, and eight police officers and jawans, as well as one Edhi volunteer were injured in the attack.
The Government of Pakistan has now awarded Sitara-e-Shujaat to the three martyrs of the Karachi Police Office and DIG Muqadas Haider for displaying bravery.
The Karachi Police is proud of the bravery of its martyrs who bravely fought and foiled the attack and sacrificed their lives, said the spokesman.
