PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Agency organised an awareness session titled “Water Scarcity in Pakistan” at Frontier Law College here on Thursday.The event was aimed to shed light on the critical issue of water scarcity and its implications, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
The session included discussions, with legal questions raised by Akhtar Ali Khan, the Founder of the college. Dr Habib Jan, Director of EPA, delivered a comprehensive address, emphasising on the significance of water in human life, its availability, and the alarming rates of wastage.
He enlightened the law students on international protocols and concerns, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by poor and underdeveloped countries in managing water resources.
Dr Habib Jan highlighted the pressing need for policymakers to prioritise access to safe drinking water, especially in regions facing scarcity.
He underscored the importance of resolving water disputes among countries sharing borders, emphasising on the collaborative efforts required for sustainable water management.
The session concluded with expressions of gratitude and an exchange of trophies to acknowledge the valuable contributions of the participants.
