PESHAWAR: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between the Department of Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the CPEC Cultural Communication Center of the People’s Republic of China with the aim of bolstering the pool of trained and skilled manpower in the province.
A handout issued here stated that under the MoU, digital skills training would be provided to 200,000 students of government colleges in the province, in various fields such as web development, App development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, graphic designing, and more.
The signing ceremony took place at Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Thursday, attended by distinguished personalities including KP’s Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, who participated via a video link.
The caretaker provincial cabinet members Dr Najeebullah, Dr Aamir Abdullah, Dr Qasim Jan, and other relevant officials were also present at the ceremony.
The primary objective of the MoU is to forge a long-term strategic partnership between the Department of Higher Education
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the CPEC Cultural Communication Center, aimed
at imparting market-oriented training to young students.
Through digital skills and training programmes tailored to specific needs, the partnership seeks to enhance the skilled workforce of the province significantly.
Furthermore, measures will be taken to facilitate employment opportunities in relevant fields for students completing the training, as outlined in the MoU.
Addressing the gathering, the caretaker chief minister congratulated the authorities involved from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Higher Education and CPEC Culture Communication Center on the MoU.
He said that besides addressing the digital skills gap in the province, the agreement would reinforce the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
