Grand Democratic Alliance candidate Irfanullah Khan Marwat has challenged the election results of provincial assembly constituency PS-105 in the Sindh High Court.
Marwat submitted in the petition that the elections at four polling stations were rigged by rival Pakistan People Party candidate Saeed Ghani, as the results of those polling stations showed that 90 percent of votes were cast there alone.
He submitted that results of the polling stations of Chanesar Goth were rigged and bogus voting was done at the four polling stations. He requested the court to restrain the Election Commission of Pakistan from announcing the official results of PS-105 and order re-polling at the four polling stations.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami candidates for provincial assembly constituencies PS-124, PS-126, PS-104 and PS-127 filed contempt applications against the ECP for violating the court orders.
Applicants Nusratullah, Junaid Mukati, Mohammad Ahmed and Mohammad Akbar submitted that court had directed the ECP to decide complaints of the petitioners with regard to the consolidation of election results tallying with Form 45; however, the ECP instead of deciding the applications issued notifications for the returned candidates, which was a violation of the court order.
They requested the court to suspend the impugned notifications and directed the ECP to first decide their complaints prior to the issuance of the notifications.
