LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said the rule of a single individual and corruption are the greatest threat to democracy which can only be strengthened through transparent accountability.
Addressing the newly-elected JI Central Shura members at Mansoora on Wednesday, he said some ruling families in the country owned as many as 18 sugar mills. Siraj said JI wanted the Prime Minister, his family and all those who had been named in the Panama Leaks and who had unlimited assets abroad, to face their conscience as well as the courts of law. What can be expected regarding Panama Leaks when the there was no action on MNA Jamshed Dasti’s 'moral leaks' regarding the parliamentarians’ affairs, he remarked.
He said Muslim League was drifting away from its ideological identity and leaning towards liberalism and kingship. However, he said, JI would protect Pakistan’s Islamic identity at all costs and all religious forces would work together to safeguard the Muslim family system, the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (SAW), to wipe out the interest based economy and the advance of liberalism.
He said all Muslim countries, including Pakistan, were facing numerous problems and difficulties. He said that in Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen, the right to self-determination had been suspended.
Meanwhile, the steering committee of religious parties in a meeting at Mansoora on Wednesday decided to launch a decisive move for the enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa.
The committee said that the chaos in the Muslim world was harmful to the entire Muslim states, especially Pakistan. It said that the recent OIC meeting had been a welcome sign but it had been unproductive due to which the problems of the Muslim states had further increased.
The committee decided that a delegation of the religious parties would call on the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, UAE, Qatar and other Muslim states and
present a memorandum based on the sentiments of the people of Pakistan.
It also decided to hold Nizam-e-Mustafa Conference in Rawalpindi on May 12, in pursuance to the decision of the Rahbar Committee. It will be addressed by party heads.
Maulana Abdul Ma’lik, Allama Arif Wahidi, Allama Saqib Akbar, Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Ropari and Hafiz Raza Kazim attended the meeting.
