LAHORE: Caretaker Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram has emphasised the need to spread awareness about epilepsy in society.
He was addressing an awareness seminar organised on the occasion of World Epilepsy Awareness Day at the University of Child Health Sciences. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Sadiq, MD Children's Hospital Lahore Prof Dr Tipu Sultan, Pro Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Dr Junaid Rasheed, DG Rangers Punjab Major General Muhammad Atif Bin Akram, Prof. Nazir Malik and Prof. Nabila besides faculty members, parents and many children attended awareness seminar. Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram while addressing the participants said that epilepsy is a curable disease.
It is Allah who puts a person to the test and takes it out. As a doctor we have to do good to the patients. Serving humanity is also a great charity. I have earned this honour of conducting modern research on Solar Kids belonging to Balochistan. About 49pc of Pakistan's population consists of children. Epilepsy rate in children is about one percent. Epilepsy can be cured with timely and correct treatment. Vice-Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Dr Masood Sadiq while addressing the participants said, “We are thankful to Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram for the immense development of Children's Hospital Lahore during one year.
Children Hospital Lahore has been increased by 100 beds and 250 nurses. The credit for Rs850 million revamping of Children's Hospital Lahore goes to Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram and caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Children's Hospital Lahore is the second largest children's hospital in the world.” DG Rangers Major General Mohammad Atif bin Akram said that awareness in ‘our society about epilepsy is very important. Rahbar college is trying to improve the department of neurology at the hospital.’ MD Children's Hospital Lahore Prof Dr Tipu Sultan said World Epilepsy Awareness Day is being observed all over the world.
Minister inaugurates Dialysis Centre
Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram inaugurated Zohra Rasool Dialysis Center at Apka Clinic Mozang. Amjad Siddiqui and other doctors were present on the occasion. The caretaker provincial health minister said that modern dialysis facilities had been provided to the patients at Apka Clinic, Mozang. Seven dialysis machines have been donated to Apka Clinic Mozang with a generous amount of more than Rs20 million. In terms of disease burden, seven lakh dialysis machines are required in Pakistan, but currently there are only 90,000 available. Dr Javed Akram said that Allah has given us the best opportunity to serve humanity. Free tests, treatment, medicines and food are provided to patients at Apka Clinic Mozang. Every second citizen of 39 years of age in Pakistan is becoming a patient of blood pressure and diabetes.
Later, the minister while talking to the media said that we should adopt a healthy lifestyle to fight dangerous diseases in Pakistan. All over the world the rich help the poor and the healthy help the sick.
