A case has been registered against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Karachi Deputy Information Secretary Shakil Chaudhry in connection with an alleged attempt to murder. FIR No. 37/24 has been registered at the Kalakot police station under sections 147, 148, 149, 337(i) and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Complainant Gul Hameed, son of Abdul Hakeem, is a PPP worker. He has also nominated Lyari’s Union Committee Chairman Enayat Marwat, Councillor Javaid Khan and others in his police complaint.
“During the celebration of the PPP’s success in Lyari, an attack was made on me,” reads the FIR. “Hammad Saleem and Javaid Khan stabbed me with a knife. As I was injured due to the knife attack, Shakil Chaudhry and Asif Marwat intended to murder me and fired at me.”
The complainant said he miraculously survived the firing and was promptly taken to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, adding that the suspects followed him to the hospital and attacked him again. It is pertinent to mention here that a day earlier, Hammad Saleem, who was nominated in the FIR at the Kalakot police station, had filed a complaint at the Eidgah police station against Gul Hameed, the complainant in the Kalakot FIR, and his companions Malang, Yasin Guddu and others.
The case was registered following the celebrations of a PPP candidate’s success in the general elections on Saturday night. Saleem also nominated PPP South President Khalil Hoti and some of his associates in his police complaint.
