The case of the targeted killing of a police constable has been registered under the anti-terrorism act on Wednesday.
The FIR was registered at the Bilal Colony police station against unknown suspects on the complaint of the younger brother of the martyred constable, Waheed Pervaiz. Charges of murder and terrorism are part of the case.
The brother was the gunman of the ADJ West, City Courts. The complainant said that his brother was leaving for duty from the house as usual at 7:15am, and he was watching him from the balcony of the house going downstairs.
As soon as Pervaiz sat on his motorcycle, two suspects on a motorcycle approached him, and the one riding as pillion passenger fired at him, causing him severe injuries. “I and people around immediately arrived, but the culprits fled while firing blindly,” the complainant said.
Fear and panic spread due to the firing. Police said a search for the culprits had been initiated while CCTV footage of the fleeing men had been obtained.
The incident occurred in the New Karachi area within the limits of the Bilal Colony police station on Tuesday, where assailants killed 48-year-old constable Waheed Pervaiz, son of Tariq Pervaiz. The police stated that the cop was posted to Security I and was assigned to the security of a judge as a gunman. Two empty shells of 9mm pistols were recovered from the scene.
