Three mineral dept officials injured in attack
JAMRUD: Three officials were injured on Tuesday when unidentified men attacked a check-post set up by the Mineral Department to stop smuggling in the Jamrud tehsil of the Khyber district, police said.
The police said unknown attackers first threw hand grenades and then opened fire at the check-post in Sakhi Pul area of Jamrud in the wee hours.Three officials of the Minerals Department performing duty there were injured in the attack. They were identified as Meeran Khan, Jahangir Khan and Mir Asghar.
The police said the retaliatory fire by the officials forced the assailants to escape.The injured officials were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance, where their condition was said to be stable.The police registered a case against the unidentified accused and launched an investigation.
