ALPURI: Though the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification declaring Amir Muqam as the returned candidate on NA-11, his rival candidate Syed Farin has rejected the outcome by alleging rigging.
The PTI-backed independent candidate Syed Farin said that he neither accepted the ECP’s notification nor the Farm-47. He insisted that the ECP should give him the Farm-45, saying that he had won the election. “I will not accept the results until the Farm-45 is issued to me,” he said, adding that government machinery was used to pave the way for the victory of Amir Muqam.
On Tuesday, the ECP issued a notification declaring Amir Muqam as the winning candidate on NA-11 by polling 61,204 votes while his rival Syed Farin obtained 55,312 votes. It may be mentioned here that two persons were killed and 11 others injured when supporters of PTI clashed with police during a protest against alleged tampering with election results in Shangla.A large number of people supporting Syed Fareen, a PTI-backed independent candidate, had taken to the streets after Amir Muqam was declared winner on February 9.
