DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three persons, including a child, were killed and five others sustained injuries when rivals allegedly opened fire on a motorcade of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists and supporters on Budh Link Road in the jurisdiction of Hathala Police station on Monday.
Eyewitnesses said that a large number PPP activists and supporters from Budh area were going in a procession of vehicles led by an official of Gomal University, Imran Budh, to Kundi Model Farm to congratulate Ahmad Karim Kundi, the brother of PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi, on winning the seat of PK-112, City-II. They said that when the caravan reached the Budh Link Road, the rivals of Imran Budh, who were lying in wait, allegedly opened fire on the vehicles.
As a result, three persons, including a child identified as Rehan, 11, a resident of Budh, were killed and five others named Sultan, 60, Aziz, 50, Mehrban, 49, Irfan, 24, and another whose name could not be ascertained, sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital where two of the wounded persons were stated to be in a precarious condition.
