Upgradation of Pirwadhai bus stand reviewed
Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chatha visited Pirwadhai General Bus Stand. During the visit, he reviewed the ongoing work regarding the upgradation of the General Bus Stand and the opening of entrances and exits of the base, says a press release.
Commissioner Rawalpindi also made a detailed review of the men’s and women’s waiting room, washrooms and other administrative matters including sanitation. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chatha said that the open area of the General Bus Stand had become a ruin. The open area of General Bus Stand has not been constructed for 20 years.
More than 11 crores are being spent on the construction and repair of entrance and exit routes and open area of the General Bus Stand. He said that one-size-fits-all signboards will be displayed at the vehicle workshop shops in the bus stand areas. Any kind of encroachment will not be tolerated at the General Bus Stand. Providing relief to the public is our top priority. He directed that the Punjab government is spending millions of rupees on the general bus stand and special care should be taken for its maintenance.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema said that the second polio campaign of the New Year will start from February 26, says a press release. The campaign will continue for seven days without interruption. He said that polio campaign is being started again in case of positive polio sample. He directed the officers of the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive plan keeping in mind all the aspects regarding the arrangements of the polio campaign so that no problem is faced during the polio campaign. He said that in order to make the polio campaign successful, all the officers and officials should performed their duties in an efficient manner.
He expressed these views while presiding over the anti-polio campaign review meeting in his office. CEO District Health Authority Rawalpindi Dr. Ejaz, Focal Person for Anti-Polio Dr. Ansar, WHO representative Dr. Shumaola, DDHO along with officers from the Department of Health, Agriculture, Education, Civil Defence and related departments participated in the meeting.
