SUKKUR: A clash between the workers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) left a cop and two activists dead in Larkana on Sunday.
Political activists from Chandio and Dahani clan fired at each other with modern weapons, killing PPP activist Muhammad Hassan Chandio and GDA worker Imran Dahani at Dahani Mor in the limits of Mahoata Police Station, Larkana.
During the crossfire, ASI Sultan Shah was also injured and succumbed to his injuries in a Larkana hospital.
Mahoata police said the clash took place between the workers of PPP and GDA on political gathering.
Sources said that MPA-elect Sohail Ahmed Sial’s caravan was heading towards the mausoleum of
Z A Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto when it stopped at a local hotel. MPA’s brother Tariq Sial delivered a provocative speech against the losing GDA candidate, which led to the clash.
The SSP Larkana said DSP Saddar Police Station, Bashir Shar, ASI Sultan Shah and a cop Saddam were injured in the cross firing between political activists. ASI Sultan Shah died of severe injuries. He added that two political activists were also killed in the clash. The police managed to bring the situation under control and a large police contingent was deployed to prevent further loss of life.
DIG Larkana Nasir Aftaf Pathan directed the SSP Larkana to arrest the elements involved in the incident.
The FIR of the incident was not registered till the filing of the report. However, police claimed to have taken into custody some suspects from both parties.
