The District Keamari police on Sunday claimed to have foiled a smuggling bid by seizing a huge cache of drugs smuggled to Karachi from Balochistan.
The smuggling bid was foiled by the Site A Section police station on a tip-off. As a result of a raid, a large consignment of drugs destined for Karachi from Quetta was seized. According to District Keamari SSP Arif Aslam Rao, an interprovincial drug supplier identified as Khalid Gul, son of Nazir Gul, was also arrested in the raid.
The officer explained that 147 packets carrying a total 180 kilogrammes of hashish were recovered were seized from a hi-roof vehicle near the Habib Bank flyover in the SITE area. The officer said another suspect identified Latif managed to flee the scene.
The raid was conducted by SITE A Section SHO Khalid Rafiq under the supervision of SITE Division SP Shahzaib Chachar. Raids are being conducted to apprehend other suspects involved in the smuggling and a case has been registered against the suspects under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
