DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A police official was martyred and two terrorists were killed in a clash in the Morga area, Darazinda tehsil, on Saturday.
The official and local sources said that a police party was on a routine patrol when terrorists equipped with bombs and sophisticated arms attacked their van in Morga area in Darazinda.
The police retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for some time.
Additional Station House Officer Din Muhammad Sherani embraced martyrdom while two terrorists were also killed in the ensuing firing.
Soon after the incident, District Police Officer Abdur Rauf Babar Qaisrani, along with a large contingent of cops, rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
Also, the Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and shifted the body of ASHO to hospital.
Meanwhile, funeral prayer for the martyred ASHO was offered at the Police Lines with state honours, which was attended by Regional Police Officer Nasir Mahmood Satti, Deputy Commissioner Mansoor Arshad and others.
The body of the slain cop was later sent to his native town for burial.
It may be mentioned that three policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), had sustained injuries after militants attacked a van carrying cops in the limits of Hathala Police Station on Friday.
The militants armed with sophisticated weapons had hurled hand-grenades at the police van, leaving three cops ASI Iqbal Niazi, Fazlur Rahman, and Nauman injured. The law and order has deteriorated in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Dera Ismail Khan district in the southern belt, which saw an uptick in acts of terrorism. Mostly law-enforcement personnel, including police, have faced the brunt of the reign of terror.
