PESHAWAR: A special court has issued notices to several accused to appear on February 22 in a case concerning an attack on a police checkpoint during the May 9 protest against the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
The proceedings of the case began in the ATC Court No 3, where 19 nominated accused appeared before the court, while the remaining accused did not show up.
Subsequently, the court adjourned the further hearing of the case until February 22, issuing notices to the remaining accused.
According to reports, a total of 49 accused, including PTI’s newly elected MPA Adnan Qadri, were nominated in the case. However, seven accused, including Adnan Qadri, are still at large, while 42 accused have obtained bail from the court.
The nominated people are alleged to have attacked the police checkpoint in Hayatabad. Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be presented in court for trial.
