Nation gave a split mandate: Gillani: Wants all political parties to unite to take country out of crises
PPP had an extensive and long experience of coalition governments
MULTAN: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani has said the nation has given a split mandate, but all political parties should unite to get the country out of crises.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party had an extensive and long experience of coalition governments. They will take everyone together. Political stability is mandatory for economic stability.
Addressing a press conference at his residence after the declaration of results from his constituency NA-148 Multan-III on Friday, he said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari ran an impressive election campaign across the country. Along with him, his son Qadir Gillani, Musa Gillani and Ali Haider Gillani and other PPP candidates have been successful, for which they thank people.
He said people liked the PPP manifesto, adding that they had to develop their foreign policy as well. They fought against terrorism before and would continue to do so. Their forces have sacrificed a lot. Their soldiers are doing day and night duties on both borders. Afghanistan is their brother country. If there is stability in Afghanistan, there will be stability in Pakistan.
All political parties have to come together on one-point agenda and that is the economy. He said ending inflation, unemployment and poverty was their first priority and appealed to political parties to unite for the sake of the nation.
