DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), sustained injuries when militants attacked a van carrying cops in the limits of Hathala Police Station here on Friday.
The sources said that the militants armed with sophisticated weapons hurled hand-grenades at the police van, leaving three cops injured. The injured were identified as ASI Iqbal Niazi, 45, Fazlur Rahman, 23, and Nauman, 26.
The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan city.The law and order has deteriorated in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa particularly Dera Ismail Khan district in the southern belt, which saw an uptick in acts of terrorism. Mostly the law-enforcement personnel, including the police, have faced the brunt of the reign of terror.
It may be mentioned there that 10 cops were martyred and another nine sustained injuries when heavily armed militants stormed the Chodhwan Police Station in Daraban tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan last Monday.
